This marks the first time that one of Disney+'s original series has been made available to own on physical media. All four titles will be available to pre-order from August 28.

This surprising, yet welcome news comes less than a week after Disney-owned 20th Century Studios announced that its Predator prequel film, Prey, would also be coming to 4K UHD and Blu-ray. That release will be packed with special features, including an alternate opening, two deleted scenes and an audio commentary track. Collectors will also be given the choice to select the full-length Comanche audio track before watching the movie. An exclusive Steelbook version of Prey will be available for purchase at BestBuy.

Loki Lands Physical Release Ahead of Season 2

Loki Season 1 will be released on physical media shortly before Season 2 hits Disney+ on Friday, Oct. 6. Picking up in the aftermath of the shocking Season 1 finale, Loki finds himself "in a battle for the soul of the Time Variance Authority," reads the official synopsis. The fan-favorite God of Mischief will also be dealing with a case of timeslipping, which causes the afflicted to be pulled through time between the past and present. The synopsis continues, "Along with Mobius, Hunter B-15 and a team of new and returning characters, Loki navigates an ever-expanding and increasingly dangerous multiverse in search of Sylvie, Judge Renslayer, Miss Minutes and the truth of what it means to possess free will and glorious purpose."

At this time, it is not known if Disney plans on releasing further Disney+ original series on 4K UHD and Blu-ray. However, Marvel.com's article covering the news additionally lists the Disney+ limited series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier as getting a physical release. Since Disney+'s launch in 2019, the streaming service has debuted more than a dozen exclusive Marvel and Star Wars series, including The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight and Hawkeye. If fans come out and purchase Loki Season 1, WandaVision and The Mandalorian Seasons 1 and 2 on physical media, there is a good chance that Disney+ will at least continue releasing its Marvel and Star Wars shows on 4K UHD and Blu-ray.
