Amy Dowden has revealed that she has blood clots as she returned home from chemotherapy treatment amid her breast cancer diagnosis. The Strictly Come Dancing, 33, professional announced earlier this year that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and was undergoing treatment. But recently, Amy, 33, explained to her online followers that medical staff has discovered she was suffering from "another type of cancer".

The brave TV star and professional dancer has managed to remain positive amid her diagnosis and has been keeping her large fansbase updated on her journey as she hopes to return to the famous Strictly dance floor next year. In her latest social media offering, Amy revealed that she was heading home from hospital, but also told her followers that doctors have discovered blood clots in her system.

Amy took to her Instagram account to share the update as she posted a photo of herself sitting in her hospital bed while donning a pair of grey pyjamas and a black cap after revealing that she is now losing her hair amid her chemotherapy treatment.

Alongside the photo, Amy wrote: " And I’m going home to my own bed! Thanks again to the marvellous NHS! Got some blood clots but I’m feeling good other than a sore and swollen arm. Another hurdle along this journey. But again forever grateful to the nhs and my heroes around me. Can’t wait to get into my own bed since Monday though #nhs #canceryoung #chemotherapy #myownbed #nhsheroes."

Over the weekend, Amy opened up about her heartache after losing her hair due to the intense chemotherapy she is undergoing in a bid to kill the disease. Sharing a lengthy update with her fans, Amy said: "Thanks for all the lovely messages, a little update on cycle 2.

"Wanted to me open and honest with you all from start. So this cycle, I started feeling sick as soon as second lot of 'red devil' was going in. Got home very tired and started being sick (even with all the anti-sickness) by Friday afternoon the sickness stopped and just waves of nausea. Still taking anti-sickness now.

"Hardly any sleep due to steroids and the insomnia they bring with them. Didn't have any last cycle but some lovely mouth ulcer friends this time round. But I've managed some walks, lovely homemade soups and smoothies and feeling and feeling even better today! The little wins."

In a second post, Amy penned: "What I've found harder this time round and the last few days is the hair shredding. Even though I'm cold capping you hope to keep %50 [sic] of your hair and there are also so many benefits to the hair growing back quicker too. But as much as I prepared myself every day gently combing my hair with a wide comb and seeing what comes is just heartbreaking personally for me," she wrote.

"I'm only washing my hair once max twice a week, not using any heat on my hair or styling it so I just don't feel like me. So it's time to bring out the wig I say and get used to this and help me feel like me. I know this won't last forever but during this time and knowing normally these few months are my favourite time of the year and I feel myself wishing these months away just hurts so much."
