Robert Pattinson’s Co-Star Risked His Life Due To A Lie

In Christopher Nolan’s Tenet starring Robert Pattinson, Hollywood star John David Washington played one of the main roles titled The Protagonist, a disturbed agent that travels through time to end World War 3. While the Malcolm and Marie star was appreciated for his powerful portrayal, the celebrity confessed that the going wasn’t easy, especially after he failed to reveal a few aspects about himself. Washington, who was extremely keen to play the character, lied to director Christopher Nolan about his fear of heights to ensure that he bagged the role. This came back to backfire on him during filming.

“I’m sure most actors have been there. They ask, ‘Can you ride a horse?’ And you’re like,’ Sure, I can ride a horse’. You say yes and get over it later. When we were filming in Mumbai, I had to jump over a balcony. But my relationship with heights wasn’t great. So it forced me to find some courage and for the love of the art, you jump! So yeah, I loved every other take of that.” Despite his phobia, Washington’s passion and determination to succeed at any cost, made him go for broke and nail all his stunts perfectly.

Robert Pattinson Struggled To Understand Tenet

Tenet was one of the most complex films to come out of the Christopher Nolan camp. The sci-fi thriller which centered around international spies who used time inversion to prevent World War 3, had many elements that were undecipherable even to the film’s main actors, including Robert Pattinson. The star openly confessed in an interview before the film’s release that he was perplexed by the various plot points in the narrative. “It’s an incredibly complicated movie, like all of Chris’s movies. I mean, you have to watch them when they’re completely finished and edited three or four times to understand what the true meaning is. I actually, honestly, have no idea if I’m even vaguely understanding what’s happening.”

Robert Pattinson could not understand the plot of Tenet

Pattinson went on to add that his co-star John David Washington was more adept at comprehending Nolan’s mind and helped him to decipher some of the complex themes in the film.
